Home owners often hear of all the great benefits of Polyurethane Foam injections but, how often do they learn about the hazards of the process? To be sure people are well versed in the Pros AND Cons lets take a look at some potential issues that occur with foam injection.
1) In Oklahoma we have several concrete slab foundations where the air ducts are underneath the concrete. This is bad for foam because if there is an opening in the air ducts, you are likely to fill them with foam. Its important to have a good understanding of where you will be injecting and if you should plan on having your air ducts checked after repair.
2)Similar to #1, plumbing issues are the next stop for foam to fill. If you have a damaged drain line and or openings in any piping, you are likely to clog them with foam. Plan on having all plumbing checked after lift to ensure everything is in working order.
3)Basement Walls. If you are injecting under a slab it is important to know whats underneath. These are expansive polymers and you don't want to push in a basement wall trying to lift a concrete slab above and/or next to basement walls.
4) Traveling Foam; sometimes this foam can make a real run for it. If installer isn't careful it might be end up in places it shouldn't be!
Although there are draw backs; that is with anything. Polyurethane has great application capabilities and overall if your contractor is experienced you won't have too many problems. If you happen to have more questions, call us at 918-361-7787 or visit our Oklahoma Foundation Repair Site!
