What are piers and what do they do?
Foundation Piers or otherwise known as Underpinning is a process that pushes a steel pipe designed for structural loads into the ground until it reaches bedrock or load bearing strata. In Oklahoma depths can vary but the local engineers like to see around 20 ft. pier depths where possible. Pier Depth will always depend on the underlying soils but it is clear when the pier has reached its maximum depth. Instead of the pier pushing down the house will lift up ever so slightly. Once this process is repeated around the perimeter of the home in locations on average between 6-8 ft. apart, then the actual lifting process can take place. Depending on the amount of settlement the footing of the home will be lifted back to tolerance and the weight of structure will now rest on installed piers instead of failing soils. Level Home has an array of pier types and process to allow for repair in just about any soil type and/or condition. Also offering Polyurethane Deep Injection to re-stabilize failing soils. This can also be done in conjunction with the foundation piers to not only lift and support but also correct the soils that have lost their compaction. Foundation Piers are basically just stilts that hold the weight of your home or structure so it doesn't depend on failing soils. Call Level Home Foundation Repair if your are experiencing any settlement in your home. We can come out for Free and evaluate your unique situation. At the very least, when we leave you will have a comprehensive understanding of what's going on.
